Kia Ora koutou, hello everybody!
the new “Basic Dye by Jaquard” is in the online shop now.
Early observations on how to use it and so on from me – please get in touch if you have any of your own and I can let everybody else know.
It is cheaper, by $1.60 per jar. The jars are really easy to use as one can just spoon out the dye as needed and just close it again, less mess than the iDye powder from Jaquard.
There are less colour choices than the other dye’s and from what I can tell these take a bit longer to really get the required results and that will mean there is an increased risk of “over boiling” – especially if you are using dried already boiled whenu. So bear that in mind.
The colour “look” is great for the red and also the black (though I still prefer the idye or even RIT dyemore for that).
I have not tried to cold dye anything just yet and I have not tried mixing colours either. They do take on other materials as well, such as wood and reeds and so on so that might be something you want to look into if you are a mixed material artist.
Currently, we have them in the online shop for $11.90 and remember, members of the Weavers Circle are getting a 10% discount on all of the products in the shop automatically.
If I get results from others or warnings or more photos I will most certainly let everybody know.
Thanks! Rita
