Description
Whole Paua Shell encased in Harakeke
Pāua is the Māori name given to four New Zealand species of large edible sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs which belong to the family Haliotidae. It is known in the United States and Australia as abalone, and in the United Kingdom as Ormer shells.
We collect these shells and then weave a kono around them to give them new life
Sizes vary depending on their natural size, but are approximately 13-17cm long and 8 to 10cm wide
Unfortunately, due to many international regulations regarding wild seashells, these can’t be sent outside of New Zealand.
